First portion of the itinerary: Food walking tour through Matera “sassi”
Discover the history of a town totally built on the rocks. In the past locals chose these caves as a shelter for their family and their animals. You will be astonished today by seeing how they transformed these ancient dwellings into excellent restaurants, luxury hotels and nice houses. Taste local food specialties, like baked bread, or sweet red pepper.
Second portion of the itinerary: discover Taranto legends
Visit Taranto, the capital town of ancient Magna Grecia. It lays in a bay which is also known as the Gulf of dolphins. Visit the underground ipogei, then the Archeological museum dedicated to Magna Grecia time. Listen to the legend that Taranto town was founded by a God riding a dolphin and learn how these cetaceans are greatly preserved in this town today.
Third portion of the itinerary: Lecce and Salento
Explore the Baroque treasures of Lecce, which have recently been discovered by big fashion houses, like Dior for its latest campaigns. Admire the great Cathedrals in Otranto and Galatina. Learn about the origins and meaning of the legend of the “tarantismo”, a strange dance dating back to the ancient farming rites, which were practiced in Puglia during harvest time.
Apulian sea adventure and dinner under the vines
On board your elegant catamaran you will enjoy the splendour of the coasts of Monopoli town, its great Castle looking over the sea. You will be struck by the view of the cliff to the sea in Polignano a Mare, its bastions and its wonderful caves, most of them inaccessible by land. In the evening, enjoy a great dinner under the grapes, seated among candles, in an intimate corner just next to the swimming pool, sipping great local wine.

Fourth portion of the trip: the legends of Castel del Monte, Bari and Alberobello
Many legends have been told around Unesco site of Castel del Monte and its function: it could be a hunting manor, or a building where Emperor Friedrick 2nd gathered scientists from all over Europe. Visit Alberobello, a fairy tale town, with its picturesque cone shaped trulli. Finally discover the treasures and legends of Bari, most of them are linked to the ancient legend of Saint Nicholas and its miracolous bones kept in the homonymous crypt. Our guide will make sure you don’t miss to taste great local food, like focaccia or the unparalleled Apulian bread.

An old masseria located just in Lecce heart. This hotel was totally restored and open to guests in 2015. You will breathe the freshness of fruit trees that adorn its garden, mostly orange and olive trees. You can relax in the outdoor pool, admiring the sculptures left here by two great French artitsts, who are friends to one of the owners.
Masseria San Domenico, 5***** in Savelletri, Nights 5-6
A great building, dating back to the 15th century, when it was used by the Knights of Malta as a watch-tower, Masseria San Domenico is among the first “Masserias” in Puglia which was totally restored and converted into a deluxe resort in 1996. Sustainability
A portion of your day tour to Taranto town will be donated to a local association of marine biologists, who study and preserve the life of local cetaceans, mostly dolphins. Every day they reach the dolphins offshore and study their behaviour. They are also working on a project with the aim of transforming a small military island of Taranto bay into a hospital, where to take care of sick dolphins.
